Men's Cancer: Symptoms Men Ignore

No.1 - Breast Changes
Breast cancer in men is not common, but is it possible. Any mass in the breast area, or breast changes such as dimpling or puckering of the skin, nipple retraction, redness or scaling, or nipple discharge should be reported to your physician. The doctor may order a mammogram, a biopsy, or other tests if indicated.

No. 2 - Persistent Pain or Discomfort in Any Body Area
Though pain is a common symptom of many medical disorders, any pain that persists should be evaluated by a doctor. Your pain may not be cancer, but it's best to have a physician check you thoroughly to rule out other conditions and treat the underlying medical cause of your pain.

No 3. - Changes in the Testicles or Scrotum
Any change in the size of the testicles, or swelling, lumps, or a feeling of heaviness in the scrotum may be a symptom of testicular cancer. This cancer affects younger men age 20 to 39, and so the American Cancer Society recommends men get a testicular exam as part of regular checkups. Early detection is important as some testicular cancers grow rapidly.

No. 4 - Changes in the Lymph Nodes (Swelling, Painful, Warm and/or Reddish Color)
Swelling or a lump on the lymph nodes such as under the armpits or in the neck could be a sign of infection, or it could be cancer. If your lymph node gets larger or stays larger for more than a month, consult your doctor.

No. 5 - Fever (High Fever of > 103 F or Chronic Fevers, Usually More Than One Week)
A high fever is usually a sign of infection but in some cases it could be a symptoms of cancer. Some blood cancers such as leukemia or lymphoma can cause fever. Other cancers when they have spread (metastasized) to another part of the body can cause fever. Consult your doctor to address the underlying cause of your fever.

No. 6 - Weight Loss Without Trying
While many people are happy to see pounds drop off effortlessly, this can be a sign of cancer. Cancer cells use up a lot of the body's energy, and can cause a seemingly unexplained weight loss. If you lose more than 10% of your body weight in a short time without diet or exercise, even if you are overweight, talk to your doctor.

No. 7 - Gnawing Abdominal Pain and Depression
Pain in the abdomen along with depression may be an indication of pancreatic cancer. The connection is unclear but these symptoms are often associated when pancreatic cancer is present. Anyone who is depressed should seek medical attention anyway.
Other symptoms that may occur include yellowing of the skin or eyes (jaundice), and a change in stool color.
Report these symptoms to your doctor, who may order a chest X-ray, CT scan, MRI, and, possibly, and possibly other scans and tests.

No. 8 - Fatigue (Physical or Mental)
Fatigue is a common symptom associated with a wide variety of medical problems. Fatigue can happen early on in cancers such as leukemia or lymphoma, and also with some colon or stomach cancers. Tell your doctor if you experience unexplained fatigue that does not improve with rest.

No. 9 - Persistent Cough (Especially Lasting More Than About Three Weeks)
Persistent cough is a symptoms also associated with many medical conditions including colds, flu, and allergies. Prolonged coughs lasting more than three to four weeks could be a sign of cancer. Tell your doctor about your cough and how long it has lasted. Your doctor will examine your throat, check your lungs function, and, especially if you are a smoker, order X-rays. These tests can rule out other chronic conditions that cause cough such as bronchitis or acid reflux.

No. 10 - Difficulty Swallowing (Food, Liquids, or Both)
Difficulty swallowing can be a sign of gastrointestinal (GI) cancer, particularly esophageal cancer. Rather than switching to a liquid diet on your own, tell your doctor of your symptoms. You may be sent to a specialist (gastroenterologist) for an upper endoscopy to examine your esophagus, a barium swallow test, or a CT or MRI of the esophagus.

No. 11 - Changes in the Skin (Color Changes, Thickness Changes, Easy Bleeding)
The most common type of cancer in the U.S. is skin cancer. Any changes in the size, shape, color, or symmetry of moles should be noted to your doctor. Any skin pigmentation changes, bleeding on your skin, or scaling should also be reported. Don't wait more than a few weeks after noticing these symptoms as melanoma, a type of skin cancer, can be particularly aggressive and needs to be treated promptly. A skin biopsy may be ordered to detect cancer.

No. 12 - Blood Where It Shouldn't Be (Blood in Sputum, Stool or Urine)
If you are seeing blood in places where you should not be bleeding, this is a cause for concern. Even if it's not cancer it should be brought to the attention of a doctor. Blood in the stool may be from a hemorrhoid, but it could also be due to colon cancer. Blood in the urine may be due to bladder or kidney cancer. Blood in the sputum (mucus that comes up when you cough) could be due to lung, esophageal, or oral cancer. Tell your doctor about any blood in unusual places.

No. 13 - Mouth Changes (Chronic Oral Lesions That Do Not Heal)
White patches on the inside of the mouth or on the tongue may be a sign of leukoplakia, which is a precancerous condition that can lead to oral cancer. This is more common in smokers. Tell your doctor or dentist if you notice these patches.

No. 14 - Urinary Problems (Frequent Urge to Urinate, Slow Urine Stream, Incomplete Feeling of Emptying the Bladder)
Urinary problems such as urinary frequency, urgency, or a feeling of being unable to empty the bladder fully are common as men age. But when these symptoms start to interfere with daily activities, they might be a sign of prostate cancer, the second-most common cancer in men, after skin cancer.
A doctor will perform a digital rectal exam to check the prostate gland and see if it is enlarged. This may be due to a common non-cancerous condition called benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). A blood test may be ordered to test for prostate-specific antigen (PSA), which can point to the possibility of prostate cancer. If the PSA is high, you may be referred to a specialist (urologist), and a biopsy of the prostate gland may be perfomed.

No. 15 - Indigestion (Frequent or Almost Constant Discomfort)
Indigestion is another one of those common symptoms that may be associated with other underlying medical conditions. Sometimes severe indigestion is mistaken for a heart attack. However, persistent indigestion may also be a sign of cancer of the esophagus, throat, or stomach. Any severe pain in the chest area should be promptly evaluated by a doctor – if this pain is a heart attack it is a medical emergency. Play it safe and get checked out.

Homemade Face Pack for Skin Whitening

How to Make Homemade Face Pack

skin whitening face packThe large number of products endorsed on the television for skin whitening only confuse us. The growing advertisements about face whitening creams and lotions are signs of how much fairer skin is preferred by many. However, which of these products does one really trust for better and assured effects, no one can guarantee. Along with this confusion also comes the price tag, as most of such whitening products demand a price premium.
Experimenting with chemical products often has the risk of harmful effects on skin which at times could also lead to permanent damage. Another option would be to hit the salon or the spa, but these activities are also seemingly expensive and not within the reach of everyone. There are easier simpler solutions to achieve safer and long lasting skin whitening results using everyday ingredients we readily find in our own kitchens.
Let’s take a look at some of these home remedies – from kitchens to spas. Some of the common ingredients used are lemon juice, yogurt, honey, tomato, fresh fruit pulp, coconut milk, sandalwood powder, oatmeal etc.
But instead of this I thought of trying something else, I mean I agreed with my mom’s recipe for home made face pack, here are few which I am sharing with you.

Parenting Advise skills

#1 Create the Right Atmosphere

Sadhguru: Creating the necessary ambience is a large part of parenthood. You must create the right kind of atmosphere – a certain sense of joy, love, care and discipline both within yourself and in your home. The only thing that you can do to your child is to give him love and support. Create a loving atmosphere for him where intelligence will naturally flower. A child looks at life pristinely. So you sit with him and look at life fresh, like he does. Your child need not do what you did in life. Your child should do something that you did not even have the courage to think about. Only then will this world progress and something happen.
A basic responsibility that humanity has to fulfill is to ensure that the next generation of human beings is at least one step ahead of you and me. It is extremely important that the next generation should live a little more joyfully, with less fear, less prejudice, less entanglement, less hatred, less misery. We must aim for this. Your contribution to the next generation should be that you don’t leave a brat in the world, you should leave a human being who is at least a little better than you.

#2 Know What Your Child Needs

Sadhguru: Some parents in their aspiration or ambition to make their children super-strong, have unnecessarily put their children through too much hardship. They want their children to become what they themselves could not become. In trying to fulfill their ambitions through their children, some parents have been extremely cruel to children. Other parents, believing that they are very loving to their children have over-pampered them and made them powerless and useless in the world.
Once, there was a yogi who belonged to a certain tradition called Kashmir Shaivism. This is one of the seven forms of yoga. It is a very powerful form, but it has mostly remained in the Kashmir area, so it acquired that name. One day, this yogi saw a cocoon which was slightly cracked, and the butterfly inside was really struggling to come out – the cocoon shell was too hard. Usually, the butterfly struggles constantly for almost forty-eight hours to come out of the cocoon. If it does not come out, it will die. The yogi saw this and out of his compassion he used his nail and opened the cocoon so that the butterfly could come free. But when it came out, it could not fly. It is that struggle to break out of the cocoon which empowers the butterfly to use its wings and fly. What is the use of a butterfly that cannot fly? A lot of people, in what they think is love for their children, have made their children like this. The children don’t fly in their life.
There is no standard rule for all children. Each child is different. It is a certain discretion. No perfect line can be drawn as to how much to do and not do. Different children may need different levels of attention, love and toughness. If you were to come and ask me while I am standing in the coconut garden, “How much should I water each plant?” I would say “A minimum of fifty liters.” But if you go home and pour 50 liters for your rose plant, it will die. So you must see what kind of plant you have in your house.

#3 Learn From Your Child

Sadhguru: Most adults assume that as soon as a child is born, it is time to become teachers. When a child enters your house, it is not the time to become a teacher, it is time to learn, because if you look at yourself and your child, your child is more joyous, isn’t it? So it is time you learn life from them, not the other way around. The only thing that you can teach your child – which you have to, to some extent – is how to survive. But when it comes to life itself, a child knows more about life experientially, by himself. He is life; he knows it. Even with you, if you take away the influences you have imposed upon your mind, your life energies know how to be. It is only your mind which doesn’t know how to be. An adult is capable of all kinds of sufferings – imagined sufferings. A child has still not gone to that. So it is time to learn, not teach.

#4 Just Let Him Be

Sadhguru: If parents are truly concerned about their children, they must raise their children in such a way that the child will never have any need for the parent. The process of loving should always be a liberating process, not an entangling process. So when the child is born, allow the child to look around, spend time with nature and spend time with himself. Create an atmosphere of love and support and don’t try to impose your morals, ideas, religion or whatever in any way. Just allow him to grow, allow his intelligence to grow and help him look at life on his own terms, as a human being – not identified with the family, or your wealth or whatever else. Just helping him to look at life as a human being is very essential for his wellbeing and the wellbeing of the world. Always, the parent encouraging the child to learn to think for himself, to use his own intelligence to see what is best for him is the best insurance you have so that the child grows up well.

#5 Be a Joyful, Peaceful Being

Sadhguru: If you want to bring up your child well, the first thing is, you should be happy. But you, by yourself do not know how to be happy. Every day in your house, when tension, anger, fear, anxiety and jealousy are the only things that are being demonstrated to your child, what is going to happen to him? He will obviously learn only these, isn’t it? If you really have the intention of bringing up your child well, you should change yourself to be a loving, joyous and peaceful being. If you are incapable of transforming yourself, where is the question of you bringing up your child?
If we really want to bring up our children well, first of all we must see if we can do something with ourselves. Everyone who wishes to be a parent must do one simple experiment. Let them sit down and see what is it that is not okay with their lives, and what would be good for their lives – not about the world outside, but about themselves. Something about yourself – your own behavior, speech, modes of action, and habits – if you can alter that in three months, then you would handle your child also with wisdom.

10 Surprising Foods that Kill Your Sex Life

While we know that dark chocolate and almonds are great aphrodisiac, there are certain foods that can have just the opposite effect on your mood. It is important for you to know about the foods that can naturally ruin your sex-drive and harm your reproductive health as well. So, take a look at some such foods that you should strike-off from your menu, when you are in the mood to spice-up your sexual appetite!

Artificial Sweeteners

Artificial sweeteners contain aspartame, an ingredient that causes trouble for your body's happy hormone (serotonin), without which your mood and libido tends to suffer. Not only this, aspartame has other side effects as well, such as headaches, irritation, anxiety disorders and insomnia. So, next time when you are out getting your groceries, pick up some natural sweeteners like honey or jaggery, to keep your health and sex life on right track.
Corn flakes

The anti-aphrodisiac qualities of corn flakes might come as a surprise to many. Did you know that Dr. John Harvey Kellogg, made this cereal as a part of a bland diet to lower people's sex drive? So, whether you are planning a romantic breakfast in bed or a quick snack before your bed-time, it is best to stay away from corn flakes.
Cheese and more

The dairy products that you get in the market these days are not natural, anymore. The high-fat dairy products, such as cheese, can cause a lot of damage to your body. Overconsumption of such products will induce toxins that will interfere with the production of the natural, mood uplifting hormones like oestrogen, progesterone and testosterone. Collection of such harmful toxins in your body, can also cause sexual dysfunction in extreme cases.
Crispy delights

A pack of chips by your bedside is enough to damage the tissues and cells of your body, along with your libido. These potato chips and crispy snacks are prepared in rancid oils and heated at very high temperatures. Hence, the combination of bad fats and high temperature can genuinely interfere with your mood for love.
Coffee

A cup of coffee in the morning can induce a happy mood but too much of it can spike up stress hormones, such as cortisol, in your body. Too much caffeine can cause stress and hormonal imbalances. So, if you are in mood for some romance and love, it is best to decrease the coffee intake from your and your partner's diet.
Soy

It is healthy and a good replacement for meat. But, soy contains phytoestrogens that competes with the male sex hormone. It is enough to cause fertility issues, male breast growth and body hair loss, it is a strict no-no for men.
Aerated Drinks

Consuming regular sodas and flavoured beverages can cause fluctuations in your weight and your mood. Such drinks can cause a number of health problems like obesity, dental cavities, diabetes, and more. It is quite obvious that if you start suffering from these health issues then it is harmful enough to even dip your libido levels.
Mint

Think before you pop another gum into your mouth! While it benefits the digestive system and gets rid of that bad breath, it can also have adverse effects on your libido. Mint produces menthol that cools down the sex drive. So, stick to brushing your teeth or consuming natural herbs to get rid of that bad breath.
Alcohol

You might feel relaxed after a few drinks but alcohol can actually make you feel drowsy and less sensitive to your surroundings. Now can you feel romantic with a person who is falling all-over the place? It is because alcohol induces a chemical reaction that hampers the production of testosterone. Next time, if you are planning to get cosy with your partner, it is best to steer clear from alcohol.
Fried and junk food

Fried food, like French fries and hamburger, are serious romance killers! The hydrogenated fats lowers your testosterone levels, and can also cause low quality and abnormal sperm production in men. If you are in mood to impress your partner with take-out dinner, stay away from all fast food joints, especially if you are planning something romantic.

So, if you are in the mood to get cosy with your partner then it is best to kick these anti-aphrodisiac foods away from your platter.

How to Increase Your Sperm Count

Are you ready to start having kids, but worried your sperm count is too low? Semen is most likely to be fertile when it contains more than 15 million sperm per milliliter. That count can go down when your testicles get too hot, when you're stressed out, and when you have an STI that's interfering with sperm production. Luckily, there are many steps you can take to boost your count. Here are some helpful tips on how to boost the production of your sperm.

EditPart 1 of 3: Changing Your Habits

  1. 1
Avoid overheating your testicles. There's a reason our testicles rest outside our bodies: they need to stay a bit cooler than the rest of our internal organs. When testicles get too warm, they aren't able to produce as much sperm.[1] There are a number of ways to make sure your testicles don't get overheated:
    • Don't wear tight pants and jeans.
    • Wear loose, cotton boxer shorts instead of briefs.
    • Sleep without underwear so that your testicles stay cooler.
    • Avoid hot baths and saunas.
    Ad
  2. 2
Wear a jockstrap when you play sports. It goes without saying, because most men know this from experience, but a blow to the balls will hurt you and kill your sperm.
  3. 3
Massage your body with herbal oils. This, along with regular exercise, improves overall blood flow and circulation. Increased circulation means healthier sperm.
  4. 4
Reduce stress levels. Stress can decrease your sexual function, leading to reduced sperm production.[2] If you work 12 plus hour days and never give yourself a chance to rest, your count might be down as a result. Try practicing relaxation techniques throughout the day to keep yourself feeling calm. Keep your mind and body healthy by regularly practicing yoga and meditation, or take up running or swimming.
    • Stress hormones block Leydig cells, which are tasked with regulating testosterone production. When your body experiences too much stress, it can actually stop producing sperm altogether.
    • Make sure you're getting enough sleep every night. Exhaustion can also lead to increased stress and cause decreased sperm production.
  5. 5
Stop smoking. Smoking cigarettes causes sperm counts to be lower, makes them move more slowly, and causes the sperm themselves to be misshapen. According to one study, men who smoke have 22% fewer sperm than men who don't. Marijuana seems to have a similar effect on sperm.[3] Cutting back on both of these substances is a good idea if you want to boost your count.
  6. 6
Drink alcohol moderately. Alcohol affects your liver function, which, in turn, causes a dramatic spike in estrogen levels. (Yes, men have estrogen.) Since testosterone is directly linked to sperm health and sperm production, this isn't a good state of affairs. Even two drinks a day will have long-term effects on sperm production.
  7. 7
Ejaculate less frequently. Frequent ejaculations can lower sperm count. Your body produces millions of sperm each day, but if you already have low sperm count, consider storing them up longer between ejaculations. If you have sex or masturbate daily, cut down on the frequency for increased sperm production.
  8. 8
Be careful around toxins. Exposure to chemicals can affect the size, movement and count of your sperm. It's more and more difficult to avoid exposure to toxins, but it's absolutely necessary for your overall health and the health of your sperm. Do the following to decrease your exposure:
    • If you work around chemicals all day long, protect your skin with long sleeves and gloves, and make sure you wear a mask and goggles to protect your face.[4]
    • Use natural cleaning supplies instead of cleaning with chemicals.
    • Don't use pesticides or herbicides in your house or yard.
  9. 9
Be wary of medications. Certain medications can lead to decreased sperm count and even permanent infertility. If sperm production is a big concern for you, make sure you ask your doctor whether any medication prescribed might affect your sperm count.[5]Look at the labels on over-the-counter medicines, too.

EditPart 2 of 3: Improving Your Diet and Exercise Regimen

  1. 1
Exercise regularly. Finding out a workable exercise regimen is a tough task in the modern world, but rest assured that exercise will help you produce more sperm. Exercise releases testosterone into your body, helping with sperm production. Use compound exercises and lift heavy weights, but refrain from working the same set of muscles the day after. Giving your muscles time to rest and rebuild should help you produce testosterone.
    • Do not exercise too much! Excessive exercise causes the release of adrenal steroid hormones that actually cause a testosterone deficiency. So whether you want to put on that extra muscle or help out your sperm, remember not to stress your body too much.
    • Do not use anabolic steroids. Anabolic steroids may help you pack on the pounds, but they shrink your testicles and may cause infertility. If you're trying to conceive, stay far, far away.
  2. 2
Eat healthy foods. A diet that's low in fat, and high in protein, vegetables, and whole grains is good for your health and for your sperm.
    • Eat plenty of fish, meat, eggs, fruits and vegetables.
    • Peanuts, walnuts, cashews, sunflower and pumpkin seeds are also considered to increase sperm count.
    • Avoid soy-based foods and high-fructose corn syrup. Soy foods have a mild estrogenic effect on the body. While that may be good for women, it's not great for grooming sperm. High-fructose corn syrup causes insulin resistance, which lowers fertility. Men who drink a quart of Coke regularly have 30% less sperm than men who don't drink Coke.
  3. 3
Lose weight. Losing weight will help you counteract low sperm count. Scientists don't know why obesity correlates to low sperm count, but a recent French study found that obese men were 42 percent more likely to have low sperm count than their non-obese counterparts. In the same study, scientists found that obese men were 81 percent more likely to have no sperm at all in their ejaculate.[6]
    • There are a number of different theories for why this is. Some speculate that fatty tissue converts testosterone into estrogen; others speculate that more mass in the thighs could make the testicles too hot.
  4. 4
Try supplements.[7] Try supplements that are made from natural herbal ingredients to specifically help the body make more semen. Researches found that men who consumed 5 mg of folic acid and 66 mg of zinc sulfate a day for 26 weeks experienced an almost 75 percent increase in sperm count. Folic acid and zinc sulfate are critical in the formation of DNA.
    • Vitamin C and selenium may also be good supplements to take in order to increase sperm production.

EditPart 3 of 3: Getting Medical Treatment

  1. 1
Get tested and treated for STIs. Certain sexually transmitted infections, such as chlamydia and gonorrhea, can cause scarring that interferes with the passage of sperm.[8] Get regularly tested for STIs; if you have one, be sure to get the proper treatment. In most cases you'll be prescribed a course of antibiotics to clear up the infection.
  2. 2
Determine if you have a varicocele. This is a swelling of the veins that drain the testicle. It can lead to increased temperature of the testicle and decreased sperm count. See your doctor to determine if this might be affecting your fertility. If so, a surgical procedure can take care of the problem.[9]
  3. 3
Try hormone treatments and medications. It's possible that your sperm count is low because your hormones are out of balance. Hormone replacement treatments and medications can change your hormone levels and help you produce more sperm. Talk with your doctor about whether this option is right for you.
    • Hormone replacement treatments and medications usually take at least 3 months to work before you start seeing results.
